WSGT’s new Travel Writing Award July 4, 2016

There’s still time to enter WSGT’s Independence Writing Award! It’s been shared via Johnny Jet’s Contest Round-up, USA Today’s Best Current Travel Contests, and through institutions like the University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University’s Writers’ Studio and Vancouver School of Writing! It will run from May 4th to July 4th with plenty of cash prizes and publication opportunities to be won! The theme is “Finding Freedom” and we have two new judges. Check it out!

Nowhere Mag’s Spring 2016 Travel Writing Contest — Final week!

This contest is looking for “stories that possess a powerful sense of place; they can be fiction, nonfiction or essay.” The winner will receive $1,000 and publication in Nowhere Magazine; up to ten essays will be chosen to publish.

Writer’s Digest Annual Writing Competition June 1, 2016

There’s still some time to enter the 85th Annual Writing Competition for your chance to win and have your work be seen by editors and agents! 501 winners will be chosen.The top winning entries of this writing contest will also be on display in the 85th Annual Writer’s Digest Competition Collection.

I Must Be Off! 2016 Travel Writing Contest July 31

Write about a place that changed you, a unique experience you want to share with other travelers. Essays can be “humorous, informative, quirky or profound.”

  • Top essays published on I Must Be Off! 
  • Second place prize: $50
  • First place prize: $200
  • Readers’ Choice Award ($50) based on unique hits and comments tallied on September 30.
