A Calling Home in China

How the Photo was Taken

This was shot using a Sony A7RII and the Sony 55mm f1.8 lens. This was shot nearly at ground level to catch the boat and background. Alter slightly using photoshop, just tweaking some adjustments and also slight crop.

Photo Location

Grand prize winner of Outpost Magazine's 2016 Travel Photo Contest. This is a shot of a Cormorant bird and his fisherman. Instead of focusing on the man I focused on the bird and at this moment the bird made the call and the man walked out of focus to the back of the boat. Located in Xingping village, Guangxi province, China; but don't be fooled- these are paid models dressing up and doing what photographers dictate to them. Not me though I was just a 'bystander' watching and clicking some pics when I could. This is a natural composition. Shot in the late gloomy afternoon.
