How the Photo was Taken

Nikon D600, 50mm lens, tripod, basic Lightroom corrections.

Photo Location

A calm, fading skyglow over the Tidal River campground at the bottom of mainland Australia – Wilsons Prom national park in Victoria on the last day of Summer. With the promise of calm weather, I made the 3-hour drive from Melbourne, plus a one hour hike up Mt Oberon to capture this scene. There were a handful of others on the peak earlier, but most headed home as the sun set... I waited for afterglow and ensuing stars as the crescent moon set into the orange glow.
