Stephen Chastain

How the Photo was Taken

Camera used: FujiFilm FinePix XP70.
Alterations: Used Adope Photoshop Express to adjust exposure and highlights brightness to decrease the size of the lens flare and slightly bring out the darker buildings in the background.

Photo Location

Where: I took this photo from the National Park Service's ferry from the San Francisco embarcadero to visit Alcatraz Island. This was off the stern of the ship looking back south-southwest towards the downtown San Francisco skyline. When: This was from a noontime ferry trip to Alcatraz on 16 December, 2016. I was in San Francisco to attend an academic conference and decided to get some sightseeing done in my free time. Why: I loved the way the bright sunlight brought out the colors of the flag billowing overhead with the city skyline in the distance.
