Bobcat in Canada

How the Photo was Taken

I was driving north from San Francisco California to Anchorage Alaska when something caught my eye. Automatically I pulled off to the side of the road and grabbed my camera. I wasn’t exactly sure what I had saw but I knew it was something I was not to familiar with. As soon as I hopped out of my car I noticed it was a bobcat, this was my first time seeing one in person and it was spectacular. I was able to probably get thirty feet away from the animal till it stood up and stared at me. I snapped this shot and then the cat darted into the woods and never reappeared.

I am a tour guide during my summer months and had the great job of transporting a van to Anchorage Alaska. It was one of the best experiences of my life and on top of that I got paid for it. While traveling north I saw numerous wonders from the stunning lakes resting at the feet of mountains to seeing 20 plus bears in a day. But this picture places me in such a pure moment with wildlife. I had always wanted to see a bobcat in the wild and every time I look at this photo I feel that rush of capturing this animal on film. This is the best photo in my opinion that I have taken of any animal.
