Lisa Kate Nina Big TexWant to stay in the heart of your wish-list location but you aren’t sure where? Choose a hotel in the Curio Collection and you are certain to be part of the fabric of the city. If you are tired of cookie cutter hotels, where you do not know if you are in Belgium or Brussels, this authentic brand is for you.

VideoMy Curio Collection Adventure: Highland Dallas Day 1

The first hotel in the collection, The Highland Dallas, celebrated its one year anniversary in September 2015. It is possible to walk to several nearby highlights like the George Bush Presidential Library and Mockingbird station shops. A short uber ride brings you to the Nasher sculpture garden and Klyde Warren Park. Dallas might be big but from the Highland it is a short ride to the Texas State Fair. I enjoyed my day there and all the food that came both fried and on a stick.

The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens was excellent and a must see. There were over 75,000 pumpkins of every variety and color on display for Fall with Cinderella’s carriage and a post office. It is beautifully laid out and you can take a tram ride over the 66-acre botanical garden. During the Christmas season enjoy “The 12 Days of Christmas” with 500,000 lights filling the garden during nighttime showings.
