Where did I celebrate my birthday in Cancun?

How was my Cancun celebration for my birthday? SIMPLY SPECTACULAR! I got to see Grand Bahama bank from the air and was ready for more exciting adventures. My home for this trip was the Hyatt Zilara. I had a balcony with a hammock, an in-room hot tub and a magic box.

Sergio and I spent my birthday at XPLOR! I drove through caves, swam in caves, and hammock ziplined into the water. At XPLOR, they thought of everything. Your things will be safe in your locker, your helmet has as chip in it so when photos are taken of you they can all be aggregated together, and food is included so no need to carry money. In order to plan your next activity, check the board. If any area has a line it is marked with a yellow or red light, go for the green areas!

I was afraid of the zipline towers at first but the staff is friendly and competent and I just decided to GO FOR IT! I loved it so much. I wanted to go again! I learned that everyone is welcome at XPLOR –they are prepared to take people in wheelchairs or with certain disabilities up on specific platforms so they can zipline too! I loved my birthday cake and singing at XPLOR cafeteria. My day was truly magical!

I spent the next day at the brand new XENSES! I was concerned as I have always had an eye issue that makes what I see slightly different that what other people see. I spent all of 2015 in vision therapy and most of 2016 testing my new skills. I wanted to be able to enjoy all of the unique perceptions of this park and I did! It was a huge success for me and incredible fun as well. Be prepared for something different around every corner. Do you believe what you see? Would you drink out of a toilet?

This year is the 25th anniversary celebration at XCARET! I loved the show which explores Mexico’s history. If you want great seats for the show, I highly recommend you pick the show with dinner option! I was impressed by all the local dancing styles. I wanted to get down on the floor and join in!

Where did I celebrate my birthday? After all that excitement, I was glad to return to Hyatt Zilara to walk on the beach, relax by the pool, join in the foam party and eat at all the great restaurants. In the lobby, there was a show and I was able to sit so close I felt like I was actually in it!

Thank you to Hyatt Zilara, XPLOR, XENSES and XCARET for making my birthday celebrations so special!
