1.)Where was the first place that you traveled that made you think WOW—travel is amazing (think history book come to life or …..)
I remember the first time I saw the true teal waters of the Caribbean in Turks and Caicos. It was like a postcard coming to life!
2.)If you had unlimited resources, where would you go and what would you do?
We would charter a 60+ foot boat that we could sail around the world in and explore as we desired…on our own schedule…with no work or homework for our kids.
3.)What were you afraid to do and how did you find the courage to overcome it?
I am willing to try just about anything, but the thing that scares me the most is leaving our kids alone without parents. When we went on our first hot air balloon ride, I couldn’t help but contemplate the consequences of going that high in a basket with no real amazing solution if something went wrong. I was a bundle of nerves inside, but once I got up high, I let the freedom of the experience take over and those emotions presided.
4.)What apps do you use regularly that make your life easier?
Amazon, Amazon Fresh for grocery delivery, Amazon Prime Now so I don’t have to waste time in California traffic unless it’s a priority, Windy to help plan our boating trips, and Buoy Weather to get a quick gauge on the seas.
There isn’t one destination. I wish everyone could see the place they dream of. That one trip to that special destination not only refuels the soul, but it reprioritizes everything in life.
6.)Best advice you have been given and by whom?
“If that’s the way you get it, that’s the way you got it.”
My grandfather always said this to us to help us see that the results in life are often because of our choices, whether good or bad.
7.)What inspired you to travel for extended periods of time or live in a new country?
Lastly, can you please recommend a resource for up-and-coming travel writers; this could be a course you know, a book, conference etc.
