5 Awesome Gay Hotels in Berlin

Berlin is super gay. Gayness is so well accepted in every aspect of society that you’ll find sprinkles of it everywhere. It also had the world’s first ever gay village – in Schöneberg, since the 1920s.

The gay scene is now spread throughout the city with plenty to keep everyone happy. Most hotels are used to gay couples and more than comfortable dealing with the whole “double bed are you sure Sir?” scenario.

Gay couple, Nomadic Boys (Stefan and Sebastien), visited the city earlier this year and wrote a comprehensive guide to the gay bars, clubs and hotels of Schöneberg. This is their 5 favourite gay hotels and places to stay in Berlin:

1. Axel Hotel

Axel is a hotel chain, marking itself as “heterofriendly” and adults only. The rooms have a modern design with darkened lighting to give it that sensual atmosphere and famous for its “DO DISTURB” signs you can put on your door…

It’s located right in the heart of Schöneberg’s lively gay area and has a popular outdoor Jacuzzi and rooftop area.

2. Gay Youth Hostel

The Gay Youth Hostel is also located in the heart of the gay scene in Schöneberg and the perfect budget option if you’re travelling alone and want to make friends.

It’s minutes walking distance to all the bars and clubs and they offer rooms and dorm beds for up to 8 people starting from €22.

3. Hotel Q

Hotel Q is a small boutique hotel conveniently located in Kurfürstendamm, the main shopping boulevard in Berlin. The rooms are very intimate with an open jacuzzi bath right next to the bed. You can also order their Sex Toys package: a special Secret Passion box full of toys and prizes to spice up your stay…

4. Misterbnb

As much as we love using Airbnb during our travels, it sadly lacks the capability of identifying whether your host is gay friendly or note. Whilst renting an entire flat is not as much of an issue, using it to share a room in a flat, so you’re actually living with a local, presents the extra layer of concern…“will my host be ok with me being gay?”

Misterbnb is the Airbnb equivalent for the LGBT community where you know your host is gay (or at least gay friendly) and therefore the perfect way to connect and meet with locals.

5.Hotel Palace Berlin

This is a guilty pleasure in the city: a 5* luxury option, based right in the heart of the main shopping area, opposite the Zoological Garden. It’s minutes walking distance from the Schöneberg gay scene and OMG: the cute footballers of the home team Hertha Bsc stay here when they play a home game!

This is the place to come and truly spoil yourself.
